AI for the Non-Tech Parent: A Realistic Starting Point

ON RAMP AI · BLOG

"I'm just not a tech person" is a sentence I've heard from hundreds of people, and I understand exactly what it means because I used to say it myself, right up until I actually opened one of these tools and realized it wasn't testing me on anything.

Being a "tech person" has nothing to do with using AI well. The people who struggle most, honestly, are often folks who overthink it — trying to phrase the "correct" prompt like there's a secret formula. There isn't. You just describe what you want, the way you'd describe it to a person.

For a non-tech parent specifically, here's a realistic starting point: pick the most recent parenting task that took you longer than it should have. A permission slip response. A group text to coordinate carpool. A note to a coach about a scheduling conflict. Describe that exact situation to the AI tool and ask for help with it directly.

You'll notice pretty fast that the "tech" part is basically invisible — it's just writing, just conversation, just asking for help the way you'd ask a friend who happens to be free and good with words.

On Ramp AI is built entirely around this idea: you don't need to become technical, you just need real practice on real tasks. Here's the course.
